Second Look · USD 147
Given a dental quote and not sure what's being proposed?
In 30 minutes we explain it in plain language: what each line means, what you're being charged for, and what to ask your dentist before you sign. With a written summary you can go back to.
Why a second opinion, and not another free consult
Many practices in the United States offer a free implant consultation. It's a real offer, and it's also a sales appointment: whoever gives it makes their living doing the treatment they're about to propose.
We have nothing to gain from the treatment you were offered. We won't be doing it, we take no commission on it, and we won't tell you your dentist got it wrong. What we do is translate what that quote actually says and give you the questions you need to decide for yourself.
How it works
- 1
Book and pay
You pick a time that works for you and reserve it. The video call is confirmed on your calendar.
- 2
Send us your case
A short form: the quote you were given, photos of your smile, your X-rays if you have them, and what worries you most.
- 3
We talk for 30 minutes
A video call with Dr. Carolina Macareno. She explains what's being proposed, what each term means, and what alternatives usually exist for cases like yours.
- 4
You receive your written summary
Within 48 hours you get everything we discussed in writing, with specific questions for your dentist. It's yours, and you can share it with your family or whoever decides with you.
What's included
- A 30-minute video call with Dr. Carolina Macareno, in English or Spanish
- An explanation of the quote you received, line by line
- What each procedure is and what it's for
- The specific questions worth asking your treating dentist
- Which type of specialist usually performs each procedure
- Reference cost ranges in the United States and in Colombia
- A written summary delivered within 48 hours
What it costs, and what to compare it to
A Second Look costs USD 147. For context, these are the usual ranges in the United States:
| What | Range in the U.S. |
|---|---|
| Consultation with a general dentist | USD 50 – 200 |
| Comprehensive new patient exam | USD 150 – 250 |
| Consultation with a specialist | USD 100 – 300 |
| Implant-specific evaluation | USD 200 – 450 |
| Second Look | USD 147, written summary included |
And if you later decide to be treated in Medellín, your USD 147 credits in full toward the USD 550 coordination fee. See what coordination includes.
What it is not
Being clear about this is part of the service, and it's also what allows us to offer it:
- It is not a diagnosis. A diagnosis requires examining you in person.
- It is not a treatment plan. Your plan is made by whoever treats you.
- It is not an opinion about your dentist. We won't tell you they were wrong or that they're overcharging you. We explain what the document says; the conclusion is yours.
The framing, in one sentence
A Second Look is educational and informational guidance about a dental quote, provided by a dentist licensed in Colombia. It does not constitute a diagnosis, a treatment plan, or the practice of dentistry in the United States, and it does not replace an in-person evaluation by your treating dentist.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to have X-rays?
They help a lot, but they're not required. A written quote and a few photos of your smile are enough to work with. If you have X-rays or a CBCT scan, send them: the conversation goes further.
Can we talk in English?
Yes. The call is in English or Spanish, whichever you prefer, and the written summary comes in the same language.
Are you going to tell me to travel to Colombia?
No. Traveling makes sense in some cases and not in others, and that depends on your case, your time and your budget. If you ask, we'll give you reference ranges; the decision isn't ours to make.
Is the call with the doctor or with an assistant?
With Dr. Carolina Macareno, a dentist specializing in oral rehabilitation, aesthetics and implantology, with 17 years in practice.
Can I record the call?
Yes. And either way you receive the written summary within 48 hours, which is what most people end up using.
Bring your quote. We'll explain it.
Thirty minutes and a written summary, for USD 147. With nobody trying to sell you a treatment.
